Kate Rockwell Audition Masterclass
Monday, September 24, 2018
4:30 to 8:30 PM

On Monday, September 24, 2018, current Broadway star Kate Rockwell is leading a masterclass workshop with middle and high school students to help improve their audition technique.

A graduate of Baldwin Wallace University, Kate Rockwell is currently bleaching out her brain cells in Mean Girls: the Musical, originating the role of pretty-but-dim Karen Smith, for which she earned a Helen Hayes nomination during their out of town tryout in Washington DC. Her previous Broadway credits include originating the role of Skylar in Bring It On: The Musical, Sherrie in Rock of Ages, Margot in Legally Blonde, and Hair. Some of her favorite regional credits include Mabel Normand in the world premiere of Hollywood at La Jolla Playhouse, Carrie Pipperidge in Carousel at Arena Stage (for which she received a Helen Hayes nomination), and Belle in Beauty and the Beast at The Muny. Her TV/Film credits include “High Maintenance,” “Deadbeat,” and Sex and the City:The Movie.

In a four hour period, participants will perform an audition cut from a prepared ballad or upbeat song of their choice. Participants will also receive critiques and adjustments from Kate, encouraging a more diverse and interested performance. Specific help with acting through song, character development, and audition technique will be provided. There will also be a Q&A where participants can ask questions and Kate can talk about her experience working on Broadway shows.

The workshop will run from 4:30 PM to 8:30 PM at the Playhouse at Allenberry, located on the Allenberry Resort at 1559 Boiling Springs Road, Boiling Springs, PA 17007.

Cost for the Masterclass Workshop (limited to 20 participants ONLY) is $150. In addition to a great opportunity, it will be an excellent addition to any resume. Observer tickets are also available for family, friends, area students, or anyone interested in sitting in the audience and watching the class and Kate work! Observer tickets are $20 for adults and $15 for students.
