Show Description
Beehive is a high-energy musical that celebrates some of the most iconic female voices of the 1960s through timeless hits like “My Boyfriend’s Back,” “Be My Baby,” “Son of a Preacher Man,” “Me and Bobby McGee,” and more. Told from the perspective of six young women coming of age during this transformative decade, this toe-tapping, heartwarming show brings a burst of joy and nostalgia to the stage!

In-Person Audition Dates – Auditions will be held at the West Shore Theatre Arts & Education Center located at 300 Bridge Street, New Cumberland, PA 17070
(please attend 1 and arrive at the posted start time):
Saturday, May 30 at 1:00 PM
Monday, June 1 at 6:00 PM

Please be prepared to:

– Sing 16-20 bars of a 60s or 60s style song of your choice. A song from the show is permitted. You must sing with our provided accompaniment or with a device you provide.  No a cappella auditions will be allowed.
– Complete a dance/movement audition, taught by the show choreographer (dress appropriately). If you have tap shoes, please bring them along for an optional tap audition.
– You may be asked to read provided selections from the script
– Fill out a conflict sheet at auditions (be as specific as possible about conflicts throughout the rehearsal period)

Virtual Submission Requirements (*A virtual audition option is available for those who may be out of the area at the time of auditions.)

Rehearsals
Rehearsals will begin the week of July 6,2026. Tech week will be on Saturday, August 15 through Tuesday, August 18, 2026. No absences will be accepted during tech week or performances.

August 19, 20, 21, 22, 2026 at 7:00 PM
August 22, 2026 at 2:00 PM

Please make sure you can fully commit to the rehearsal period and performance schedule before auditioning.  You must be willing to make the show a priority. Conflicts/schedule will play a large role in casting.

Compensation
Please note that productions are non-equity and no housing or compensation is provided or available.

Performers Needed
Performers aged 18 and up are welcome to audition. Experienced or first-time performers who enjoy singing, dancing, and acting are invited to audition.

Character Descriptions:

Wanda: Mezzo-Soprano
The narrator and strong leader of the production. A powerful and engaging actress who carries the majority of the dialogue and interacts with the audience.

Pattie: Mezzo-Soprano
Represents artists like Lesley Gore and Patsy Cline, singing songs like “It’s My Party” and “A Natural Woman”. Often possesses a strong, lyrical voice.

Allison: Alto
Embodying artists such as Dusty Springfield and Nancy Sinatra, with songs like “Downtown” and “Where the Boys Are”. A strong singer, often noted for a warm and lyrical voice.

Laura: Soprano
Known for portraying rock and folk icons like Janis Joplin and Lulu, singing songs such as “Piece of My Heart” and “To Sir With Love”. A strong actress and singer, adept at the powerful, often gritty, vocal styles of rock and folk.

Jasmine: Mezzo-Soprano
Portrays pop and R&B divas, including Diana Ross of The Supremes and Judy Craig of The Chiffons, with songs like “Where Did Our Love Go?” and “One Fine Day”. A strong lead vocalist with excellent dance ability.

Gina: Mezzo-Soprano
Represents the powerful soul artists like Tina Turner and Aretha Franklin, with songs such as “Proud Mary” and “Respect”. A dynamic performer with a strong voice for R&B and soul.
