*Performers aged 20 and up are welcome to audition for Belle.*

*Performers playing ages 7 to 12 are welcome to audition for Chip. The role of Chip will be double cast and performances will be split.*

Please be prepared to:
– Sing 16 bars of a musical theatre song of your choice (Approx. 30-60 seconds max). You may sing a song from the show if you would like. Please be aware that you will be cut off after 16 bars. *If auditioning for Chip, please read the note above about required audition song.
You must sing with our provided accompaniment or with a device you provide.  No a cappella auditions will be allowed.
– You may be asked to sing scales by our accompanist.
– Be prepared to fill out a conflict sheet at auditions (be as specific as possible about conflicts throughout the rehearsal period). Conflicts play a significant part in casting given our abbreviated rehearsal period.

SOME auditioners may be asked to:
– Complete a dance audition, taught by the show choreographer (dress appropriately)
– Read provided selections from the script

Rehearsals and Performances

Rehearsals will begin on Sunday, November 3, 2024.  Rehearsals will generally be Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday evenings from 6:30 to 9:30, Saturdays from 10 AM until 1/2/3 PM, and Sundays from 12 to 3 PM, but there may be some Mondays or Fridays depending on staff availability and schedules.  **A tentative rehearsal schedule will be available at the time of your audition.**

Tech week will be from Saturday, November 30, through Thursday, December 5, 2024. No absences will be accepted during tech week or performances.

Please make sure you can fully commit to the rehearsal period and performance schedule before auditioning.  You must be willing to make the show a priority.

Compensation

*Please note that productions are non-equity and no housing is provided or available.*

Stipends will be offered for all performers over the age of 18 at the time of performance. Compensation will be based on the size and requirements of the role. Specific stipend amounts will be provided in your casting offer prior to acceptance of your role(s).

Performers under the age of 18 will be offered complimentary tickets as compensation.

Performers Needed
Young performers of playing age 7 to 12 are welcome to audition for Chip on the prescribed day and time. Performers aged 20 and up are welcome to audition for Belle on the prescribed day and time. Performers high school aged and up are welcome to audition for all other roles. Experienced or first-time performers who enjoy singing, dancing, and acting are invited to audition. Unless strictly and specifically mandated from the playwright, all roles are open and available to anyone regardless of race, ethnicity, or body type.

Roles Available

BELLE – Intelligent. Loving. Kind. Belle dreams of a life full of adventure and wonder. She has a vibrant imagination and is seen as odd by those around her. This role requires onstage physical intimacy/kiss. Vocal range top: F5, Vocal range bottom: E3

BEAST – Agitated. Loner. The beast is haunted by his past mistakes. It is hard for him to form relationships and be vulnerable. This role requires onstage physical intimacy/kiss as well staged physical violence. Vocal range top: F4, Vocal range bottom: A2

GASTON – Gaston is the most popular person in town. He is both feared and admired and wants what he can’t have—Belle. This role requires onstage physical intimacy/kiss as well staged physical violence. Vocal range top: E4, Vocal range bottom: A2

LEFOU – Trickster. Lefou is a master at upholding Gaston’s ego. Vocal range top: F#4, Vocal range bottom: B2

MAURICE – Maurice devotes all his energy to loving his daughter Belle and tinkering with his inventions. Vocal range top: Db4, Vocal range bottom: Bb2

LUMIERE – Charming. Lumiere loves the fine things in life. He is the ultimate host and loyal to his master. Vocal range top: F#4, Vocal range bottom: F#2

COGSWORTH – Uptight. Cogsworth likes everything in order and according to plan. He always trying to avoid conflict. Vocal range top: E4, Vocal range bottom: A2

MRS. POTTS – Mrs. Potts is always looking for a way to make those around her more comfortable and supported. Vocal range top: G5, Vocal range bottom: F#3

CHIP – Mrs. Potts’s hopeful young son; becomes a teacup. Vocal range top: F5, Vocal range bottom: A3

BABETTE – Babette loves to be the center of attention—especially Lumiere’s. Vocal range top: F5, Vocal range bottom: C4

MADAME DE LA GRANDE BOUCHE – Madame was once a famous opera singer. She is never afraid to be the life of the party. Vocal range top: D5, Vocal range bottom: C#4

MONSIEUR D’ARQUE – Sinister. Manipulative. D’Arque runs the town asylum.

LES FILLES DE LA VILLE (3) – The popular girls in town—obsessed and with Gaston.

ENSEMBLE: VILLAGERS/CASTLE STAFF – The villagers in this town prefer every day to look and feel the same. They also make up the enchanted objects of the castle.

SWINGS, responsible for learning a number of tracks, ensemble and principal, able to step into roles as needed
