Join us this October for an over-the-top, hysterical murder mystery at the beauty parlor where the audience decides the killer at each performance! This unique comedy-whodunit takes place today in the Shear Madness hairstyling salon and is chock full of up-to-the-minute spontaneous humor. During the course of the action, a murder is committed, and the audience gets to spot the clues, question the suspects, and solve the funniest mystery in the annals of crime. The outcome is never the same, which is why many audience members return again and again to the scene of the mayhem.
In-Person Auditions Required
Due to the highly interactive and improvisational nature of the show, auditions must be held in person.

Tuesday, September 2nd – 6:00pm
OR
Thursday, September 4th – 6:00pm
If you are absolutely unable to attend in person and still wish to be considered, please contact casting@keystonetheatrics.com to inquire about alternative options. There is no guarantee that we can accommodate, as in person auditions are essential as mentioned above.

Character Descriptions and Suggested Playing Ages:
Performers 21 and older are welcome to audition. Experienced or first-time performers who enjoy singing, dancing, and acting are invited to audition. Unless strictly and specifically mandated from the playwright, all roles are open and available to anyone regardless of race, ethnicity, or body type.
TONY (Age 25-40) is the likable, flamboyant, irrepressible proprietor of the Shear Madness salon. He is fun, devilish, and interested in everything and everyone, but never jaded in any way. His “shoot from the hip” comedy must endear him to all. Should be good at physical comedy and love “playing to an audience”. Enjoys sharing gossip, swapping recipes and dramatizing moments of his life. He is rapid-fire fun.
BARBARA (Age 30-45) is the wisecracking, gum-snapping, nail-polishing hairdresser cum manicurist. She keeps Shear Madness running, answering phones, taking appointments and restocking shelves. She’s well put together, though she dresses on the cheap side. She is likable, ambitious and streetwise and can spot a bad dye job from 20 paces.
EDDIE (Age 30-55) is a well-dressed nice-looking confident man who covers a dangerous interior with a smooth, suave, and occasionally charming exterior. Often the “villain” of the piece he must have a great sense of comedy as well.
MRS. SHUBERT (Age 45-75) is an old-money socialite of impeccable breeding and manner. She can turn on the charm when she needs to and at her finest is a class act who looks good and moves well. She is used to wielding power. Must have her hair cut to specifications for it to be washed and blown out at every performance.
MIKEY (Age 23-30) is an eager-beaver high energy preppy/geek who is a capable, earnest, younger partner to Nick. Fresh out of a local junior college studying criminology he is a likeable go-getter. Must have his hair washed and blown dry every performance.
NICK (Age 30-45) – This role has been cast.
